State Department: US can slap sanctions on Russia export pipelines
WASHINGTON, Mar 21 (PRIME) -- The U.S. is not ruled out to introduce sanctions against Russian export pipelines in the framework of the Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA), official of the State Department Heather Nauert said at a briefing late Tuesday.
She said that the U.S. opposes Russia’s Nord Stream-2 gas exports pipeline because it can undermine energy security and stability of Europe and can become a factor of pressure on Ukraine.
According to Nauert, Russian pipelines will become a target of the sanctions if they violate the CAATSA law.
